National Youth Structure

National Youth Structure

The youth sections of the local associations of Don Bosco Alumni/ae are called youth groups. With a certain composition, this group includes all associates between 18 and 30 years of age.

At the national level, the figure of the Central Coordinator of the Youth Group is in charge of coordinating youth activities at the national level and has its National Youth Executive Board, which is made up of the various regional youth representatives and the elected members of the various working commissions.

In each Regional Federation, a Federal Youth Executive is elected, headed by the Regional Youth President, whose mission is to coordinate and promote the local youth groups in his/her area.

I am from Valencia and I studied at the San Antonio Abad school in Valencia from the age of 3 to 17. From the age of 9 to 17 I was a recipient at the Amics Youth Center and from the age of 17 to 25 I was a volunteer monitor at the same youth center where I grew up, training during that time as a Free Time Monitor and Youth Animator. In 2009 I was confirmed and participated until 2014 in the faith group led by Quique and Joaquin. I joined the Salesian Alumni Association of Sagunto Street in 2015 and I’ve been there ever since. Being educated in a Salesian environment has allowed me to live numerous experiences and to participate in many activities of the Salesian charism.

I am grateful for the opportunity to represent and lead the Don Bosco Alumni/ae youth movement in Spain.

I am Carmen and I am from Granada. I have had a lifelong connection with Salesians. I have grown up among its corridors, classrooms and courtyards, creating wonderful memories that I will never forget and today I can say that Salesianos is not only a school for me, but a home. I am currently active in several areas of the Salesian house, as a former student, catechist and member of the Brotherhood of the Redemption and Health of Granada.

Responsible Carlo Gastini (Valencia, Murcia and Zaragoza)

I studied at the Salesian College San Antonio Abad in Valencia, thanks to the example of the Salesians and teachers who were part of my education, they opened the way for me to continue being part of the Salesian Work. I also participated in the Amics Youth Center and once received the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was then that I began to be a First Communion catechist, a volunteer work that, eight years later, I continue to do by leading a group of the Itinerary of Education in the Faith. In addition, I considered that it was very positive to share my faith with my family and I began to be part of a Valdocco group (Maranatá) in which I have participated since I was confirmed.

I am a 22 year old Salesian Cooperator with a great passion for community service. Since I was a child, I have been attracted to the Salesian charism and its focus on education and community service. I have been involved in numerous initiatives over the years, from organizing fundraising events to preparing educational and recreational activities for young people. It fulfills me to see how my work has a positive impact on the lives of those around me, and I am always looking for new ways to achieve this.

Rafael Ángel Zafra Jiménez

Rafael Ángel Zafra Jiménez

Responsible for Southern Zone Federation (Andalusia, Extremadura and Canary Islands)

I am the Junior Regional President of the Southern Regional Federation.

My Salesian vocation has its origin in the Salesian School of Montilla (Córdoba) and I started as a student. Over the years I have been part of the youth ministry, as an animator, and of various groups of the Salesian Family.

In 2017 I was given the task of taking charge of the young alumni of my Regional. From that moment on, the main motivation that has guided our project has been to ensure that the youth presence of the associations grows and that it does so by involving them directly. We cannot forget that young people are the cornerstone on which our entire congregation revolves and must be present in all the groups that make up this great family.

Sabrina Barrios de Aguiar

Sabrina Barrios de Aguiar

Responsible Madre de Déu de la Mercé Federation (Catalonia, Huesca and Balearic Islands)

I am a former student of Salesians Horta in Barcelona and I am part of the student body of the EUSS (Escola Universitària Sarrià), also in Barcelona. My experience with the Salesians began more than 10 years ago and since then I have felt at home. The Salesians have been present in my life not only at school but also personally, as I was in faith groups for 6 years.

My motivation as a regional representative is to make the youth federation of Catalonia grow and thus be able to continue helping hundreds of young people who are fortunate enough to be in our homes.

The Salesians are more than a congregation, they are a family that I am fortunate to be part of.

As a representative my main motivation is to be attentive to the needs of the students, help them and encourage them to participate and get involved in the proposed solidarity activities in which, in addition to enjoying the good atmosphere, fellowship and solidarity.

Diego Lafuente Falcón

Diego Lafuente Falcón

Coordinator of the San Francisco Javier Federation, which covers the areas of Navarra, the Basque Country, Santander, La Rioja, and Burgos.

was a student at Salesianos Pamplona for 5 years. I am passionate about theater, and at Salesianos, I participated in drama activities. I was in Antitele and involved in all the leisure and free time activities I could.

I have never lost my connection with the Salesian environment because I have always felt very identified with it. I am a very active young person, and I hope to continue being active for a long time in the various Salesian resources that come my way. Additionally, I am involved in other organizations and NGOs, such as Los Zagales de Burlada in Navarra. Nice to meet you!

We young people are the future and the present. And as such, we must have the share of value that corresponds to us and we cannot be displaced to mere observers of the activity of “the elders” under the pretext of “needing to learn”. However, and on the other hand, we do not forget the respect towards the legacy of those who one day preceded us and all those reflections of the other current adult members that reach us, which must have a place in our day to day for all the experience and knowledge that they bring us, since it is imperative that we all complement each other and identify ourselves as an association.
